To set up and create a dashboard, open a data table and in the upper-right corner of the table click Create Dashboard.

When you create a new dashboard, the system displays a dialog with two tabs: Layout and Parameters. For more information about layout settings, see How to Customize Dashboard Layout. This article will focus on defining the filtering parameters for the dashboard.

For each dashboard, you can add a filter to show specific data. On the Parameters tab, fill in the following information:

  • Param Name: Enter the name of the parameter by which you are going to filter the dashboard data. For example, ShipMode.
  • Default Value: Enter the name of the value that the filter will display by default. For example, Regular Air. You can also leave this field blank.
  • Display Name: Enter a readable name of the filter that will be displayed in the user interface. For example, Shipping Mode.
  • Default Value: The system will copy here the data that you entered under Default Value in the grid.
  • Input Value Type: Select one of the following types:

Plain Text: The system will display the filter as a text box where you should enter the filter parameter.

Date Dropdown: If you want to filter your orders by specific date, the system will display a drop-down from which you can select a date.

Date Time Dropdown: If you want to filter your orders by specific date and time, the system will display two drop-downs from which you can select date and time.

Drop down from comma separated text: Enter names of the values that the system should display in the filter drop-down, and separate them with commas. For example, Regular Air, Delivery Truck.

Drop down from Data Table Source: Select the source data table and source field that the system should display in the filter drop-down.

CheckBox: The system will display the filter as a checkbox that you should select to specify the filter parameter.

Important! If a dashboard has several query panels, you should create additional filters for each query panel. To do it, click the filter icon in the upper-right corner of a query panel, and specify the following parameters:

  • FieldName: Value from the ParamName field under Settings > Parameters tab. In our example, it is ShipMode or OrderDate.
  • Operation: Equal
  • Value: Same as in FieldName, but surrounded with double curly brackets “{{}}”.

For more information about filtering operations, see How to Use Filter Editor.

To summarize, the setup of dashboard filtering parameters consists of the following steps:

  1. Open the dashboard.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. On the Parameters tab, specify the necessary filtering parameters, and then click Save Changes.
  4. In the upper-right corner of a query panel, click the filter icon, specify the necessary filtering parameters, and then click Set Filter.
